AI consulting, our free readiness assessments, software development, and what it is like to work with DCX.
AI Consulting
DCX is a South African AI consultancy, registered in 2018 and based in KwaZulu-Natal, working with organisations across South Africa and internationally. We help businesses assess their AI readiness, find where AI creates real value, prepare their data and processes, and build AI solutions such as chatbots, agents, and automated workflows.
We cover the full AI journey: AI Readiness Assessments, AI Opportunity Identification, AI Preparation (data, process documentation, and governance), AI Development (chatbots, agents, and agentic workflows), AI Change Management, and AI Compliance. You can engage us for a single step or end to end.
Start by mapping your operations against impact and feasibility, not by picking a tool. Our AI Opportunity Identification service does exactly that with your team: we identify the highest-value use cases, rank them, and turn them into a practical roadmap with returns you can measure.
Not the way we build it. Our principle is that AI should augment human delivery, not replace it. We design solutions that take repetitive work off your people's plates, and our AI Change Management service helps teams adopt new ways of working with confidence.
Yes. We build AI governance frameworks, run bias assessments, and help make sure your AI systems are ethical, auditable, and aligned with current and emerging regulation — including South African data-protection obligations under POPIA. If you sell into Europe, our free EU AI Act Readiness Assessment shows where you stand against the Act.
AI Readiness Assessment
DCX offers a full AI Readiness Assessment, powered by the Controlled Evolution methodology. It is a structured 58-question diagnostic that measures your organisation's data maturity, process documentation, skills, and governance, and produces a written report on where you stand and what to do next.
Yes. The full 58-question assessment is free. You complete it online, receive your report immediately, and can book a call with us to walk through the findings. There is also a shorter AI Readiness Snapshot if you want a quick first read.
It looks at the foundations AI depends on: how mature and accessible your data is, how well your processes are documented, the skills in your team, and your governance posture. The report shows your strengths, your gaps, and the steps that will make the biggest difference.
The full assessment takes about 15 minutes. The questions are about how your organisation works today, so no preparation or technical knowledge is needed. The AI Readiness Snapshot is shorter if you are pressed for time.
The Snapshot is a quick qualitative read on your AI readiness. The full AI Readiness Assessment is the complete 58-question diagnostic with a detailed written report. Both are free; most organisations start with the Snapshot and move to the full assessment when they are ready to plan.
EU AI Act
DCX offers a free EU AI Act Readiness Assessment, powered by the Controlled Evolution methodology. It is a 58-question diagnostic that measures your organisation across seven dimensions of compliance readiness and delivers a personalised 13-page report with priority actions the moment you finish.
It can. The EU AI Act applies to organisations outside the EU when they place AI systems on the EU market or when their AI's output is used in the EU, so a South African business serving European customers or partners may be in scope. Penalties reach up to 7% of global annual turnover, and obligations are arriving in phases. Our free EU AI Act Readiness Assessment is a quick way to find out where you stand.
It covers seven dimensions: AI System Awareness & Classification, Governance & Accountability, Risk Management & Human Oversight, Data Governance & Technical Documentation, Transparency & User Communication, Vendor & Supply Chain Compliance, and Conformity & Market Readiness. The report scores each one and sets out the quick wins and priority actions.
Software Development
Yes. DCX designs and builds custom web applications, mobile apps, progressive web apps, and web services for enterprise and growing businesses. Our clients include Motus and Hyundai South Africa, and our work includes the Hyundai South Africa website, the Hyundai Cl!ck to Buy online vehicle purchasing portal, and the Hyundai Approved Repairer Program parts platform.
We work across modern web and backend stacks, including TypeScript, JavaScript (React, Angular, and Vue), Node.js, .NET Core and C#, Python, and PHP, plus content management systems such as Umbraco. We choose the stack that fits your business, not the other way round.
Yes. We have integrated with South African banking APIs, payment gateways such as PayFast and PayGate, and accounting systems such as Omni Accounts, so online sales flow straight into stock and finance.
Yes. We bring scattered data together and turn it into dashboards and insights you can act on. We build bespoke data and visualisation solutions and work with established tools such as Power BI, QlikSense, and Oracle Eloqua.

Yes. We plan and manage change control alongside software releases, and we prepare teams for new ways of working, so a launch lands with the people who use it and not just on the server.
